Watch videos on the treadmill with Apple Watch

Updated 2 November 2026

The treadmill has a screen, but it plays what the gym picked. With a standalone player on your wrist, your own videos play over gym Wi-Fi or cellular — no phone propped on the console, no armband.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Connect your AirPods. Pair them with the watch itself, not just your iPhone. Sound needs Bluetooth headphones on watchOS.
  2. Pick your video before you step on. Search by voice with dictation, or reuse something from Favorites or Recent Searches — typing is the slow part on a watch.
  3. Start playing and tap Full Screen. The controls fade out on their own. Tap once to bring them back.
  4. Glance, don't stare. Raise your wrist on a walk. For runs, switch to Audio Only and let it play like a podcast with your wrist down.
  5. Skip without reaching. Now Playing puts pause and 15-second skips on the watch face, the Smart Stack, and your AirPods — no unlocking the phone, no looking away.

Tips for the treadmill

None of this needs your iPhone nearby — the watch streams on its own. TubeWrist is free to download, with every feature unlocked for the first three days. After that, TubeWrist Pro is required to keep using the app.
