Which Apple Watch can play videos?
Updated 23 October 2026
If your watch runs watchOS 10 or later, it can play video with TubeWrist. Here's how to check, and what difference cellular makes.
Supported watches
TubeWrist needs watchOS 10 or later. watchOS 10 runs on Apple Watch Series 4 and later, every Apple Watch SE, and every Apple Watch Ultra.
Check your watchOS version
On the watch, open Settings ▸ General ▸ About and look at the version. To update, open the Watch app on your iPhone and go to General ▸ Software Update.
GPS or cellular?
- GPS (Wi-Fi) models stream over any Wi-Fi network the watch has joined, or through your iPhone's connection when the phone is nearby.
- Cellular models also stream over mobile data, so you can leave the iPhone at home entirely.
Headphones
Every model needs Bluetooth headphones for sound. Why there's no sound without them.
Screen size
Video fits every screen size. Bigger watches simply show a bigger picture; the largest Apple Watch display is about 416×502 points. For more picture on any watch, try landscape video.
