How to listen to podcasts on Apple Watch
Updated 2 November 2026
There are two honest answers. If your shows live in Apple Podcasts, the watch's own Podcasts app plays them, synced from your iPhone. If you listen to talk content on YouTube — interviews, lectures, commentary — TubeWrist streams it as audio on demand, with no syncing and no downloads.
The Apple Podcasts way
The Podcasts app on Apple Watch mirrors the shows you follow on your iPhone and plays them from the wrist. If your library already lives there, that's the right tool — nothing to install.
The streaming way, with TubeWrist
- Connect headphones. AirPods or any Bluetooth headphones, paired with the watch itself. watchOS doesn't play video sound through the watch speaker.
- Turn on Audio Only. Settings ▸ Playback ▸ Audio Only. The picture stays off, it keeps playing with your wrist down, and it uses less battery and data.
- Find the episode. Dictate a search for the show or the guest. Opening a channel lists everything they've posted.
- Queue the next ones. Line up episodes and autoplay rolls through them back to back.
- Set the pace and the stop time. Playback speed runs 0.5× to 2× and is remembered between videos. The sleep timer stops playback after 5 to 60 minutes.
Which one is for you?
- Your shows are Apple Podcasts subscriptions. Use Apple's app — sync once, play from the wrist.
- Your shows are on YouTube. TubeWrist plays them on demand — no syncing, no iPhone nearby, over Wi-Fi or cellular.
- Worth knowing: TubeWrist doesn't import RSS feeds or Apple Podcasts subscriptions. It plays YouTube's talk catalog as audio — which, for interviews and lectures, is most of the internet's podcast content in practice.
Everything is unlocked for the first three days. After that, TubeWrist Pro is required to keep using the app.
