Fall asleep to videos on Apple Watch with a sleep timer
Updated 23 October 2026
Your phone doesn't need to be in bed with you. Play a talk, a story, or rain sounds from the watch, and let the sleep timer stop it once you've drifted off.
Step by step
- Connect headphones. Pair AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones with the watch. watchOS doesn't play video sound through the watch speaker.
- Turn on Audio Only (optional). In TubeWrist, open Settings ▸ Playback ▸ Audio Only. Without the picture, it uses less battery and keeps playing with your wrist down.
- Set the timer. Play something, then tap Sleep in the button row under the player. Choose 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The countdown shows in the player's top bar.
- Lower your wrist. Playback continues with the screen off and stops on its own when the timer runs out.
Tips for listening in bed
- Keep the screen dark. Turn on Theater mode in Control Center, so raising your wrist doesn't light up the screen.
- Slow it down. Some people fall asleep more easily at 0.75× playback speed.
- Line up a few videos. Add them to the queue; the timer stops playback whichever one is playing.
- Pause without looking. Use your AirPods' controls or Now Playing on the watch face.
The sleep timer is part of TubeWrist Pro, and unlocked for everyone during the first three days.
